One year. On one hand, a year can seem like a very long time. On the other hand, one year can seem to flash by in an instant. Have you experienced that phenomenon? I know that I have. The novel coronavirus pandemic has been like that for all of us — a seemingly endless series of “Groundhog Days” — and yet, wow, a full year has passed by while we have dealt with the pressures of the pandemic.

On Saturday, March 6, 2021, CAP lost one of its own. Col. Warder L. Shires, born on March 23, 1932 in Red Oak, Iowa was a man who spent a bulk of his life not only serving his country, but volunteering to make a difference in the lives of others through many organizations.

Lt Col Wildman, NCR/SE, and I have made a plan to engage North Central Region in risk management and safety.  Our plan is a series of contests and education efforts over the next several months that will lead up to a risk management celebration at the region conference in May 2020.  Each month will have a theme and we will have a contest open to seniors and cadets to send in items (memes, posters, slogans, etc.) that share or enhance our safety and risk management effort.
